Series are terrifying things. There are so many series out there and it’s easy to get caught up in starting a shit ton of them and then being overwhelmed later on. Looking through my shelves I’ve realized how many series I’ve accumulated over the last year, how many of them are still unread and how many last books I still need to get to. I joined in Fiktshun’s Don’t Let It End Reading Challenge. I participated in it last year limiting myself to series enders released in 2013. Prior to last year I didn’t really have that much zeal in series. I think. Anyhow here are my seven series I would like to finish this year, I have all the completed books on my shelf already. Hopefully, when I get to these I can finally move on to other series. It’s a never ending cycle.
I’ve had this series on my shelf for more than a year now. It’s probably one of the first set of series I bought back in 2012 when I just started blogging. I’ve tried starting the first book a few times only to put it down and tell myself that I need time to savour it. This is definitely one of my top priorities, I’ve heard amazing things and I already adore Patrick Ness’s writing style. I’ve been told that the style in this series takes some getting used to but it just reads like local Trinidadian slang.
I’ve am a ridiculous fangirl over this series. I read the first two books during an intense finals week, finishing the first one in a single sitting and having my mom hide the second book because I was so addicted. I love this series, it’s so bad that I’ve been searching for fanfiction and fanart. I’ve also found one of my biggest OTP’s in this series, of course they had to be secondary characters with very little scenes. *screams in frustration* I already started the third book a while back but I can’t bring myself to continue reading it. It’s a fantastic book but I’m not at all ready to say goodbye to the characters and after this I’ll only have one Melina Marchetta book left to read. ;__;
I’ve read this series back in 2012 and after all the spoilers and negative reviews I just lost interest in reading the final book. Sadly, it’s one I’ll have to force myself to read.
I bought this entire series over Christmas because I need a new dystopian fix and I heard great things about it. I adore Priscilla over at thereadables and after hearing her rave about this series I just had to get it.
There’s something wrong with me. I haven’t touched this series in over a year. I don’t understand the abrupt break I took because I loved Hunger, it was so thrilling and exciting. I need closure. Also, I’m missing the mind mushing this book does to my brain, I need to dive back into the madness of this series.
I’ve avoided the YA vampire genre ever since it blew up a few years ago and I already have issues finishing many books in the paranormal genre. The hype and love for this series made me cave and I took a big risk buying the ENTIRE series over Christmas. I must have been out of my damn mind. Then I started the books about two weeks ago and I’m already almost finished with the third book. I do have issues with the books but they’re so much fun and so addictive. I’m enjoying them though I think my motivation for reading them so quickly is Sydney and Adrian. I’m shipping them before I even know who the hell Sydney is. -_- I just know she appears in Blood Promise and I’m like “I need to get to that book NOOOW!”
I was very skeptical going into the series, I’ve expressed that paranormal and I don’t agree most times. I liked the first book, didn’t like the second and now I’m just meh about the series. It has elements I love but I’m not invested as I’d like to be but the third book arrived a few days ago and I’d just like to cross it off my list you know?
Let me know what series you’d like to finish this year. After I finish those above there are quite a few series I’d love to get into, particularly in the fantasy genre.
